Growing up Lisa discovered her love for baking in her Mom & Dad’s, Grandpa and Grandmas kitchens learning family recipes. She discovered a passion for cake decorating for the public school fun fairs cake walk, creating new and fun designs year after year. Baking and cooking for family and friends to keep busy were always of high interest and importance, bringing everyone together to feel welcome. She worked at ‘Krispy Kreme‘ decorating doughnuts and ‘Angelo’s’ pastry counter during high school. Lisa graduated Fanshawe College from Culinary Management where she did her externship at ‘A Piece of Cake’ learning how to create wedding and celebration cakes from scratch. She graduated Food and Beverage Management ending the year off as Head Chef in the Gala Dinner. Once done college she headed up to Muskoka to gain experience as a Pastry Chef at ‘The Sherwood Inn’, ‘Grandview‘ and ‘Taboo’. She then worked as Cake Artist at ‘Sweet Aroma’ taking a 3 week intensive cake course in Toronto at McCalls. Lisa cooked for a short time at ‘The Griffin Gastropub’ and gained knowledge of allergen and health food baking/cooking at the ‘DeliLama in Muskoka Natural Food Market’. Lisa then opened her first business ’Sunshine Cakes’ from her home which she ran for just over a year. Life then brought her back to London where she gained experience working at a variety of bakeries and restaurants including: ‘Ungers’, ’Chick Boss Cake’, ’Melrose Bakery’, ’Bosco & Roxy’s’, ‘The Little Beaver’ & ‘The Bruce’. The desire to open her own business again came around and ‘Sunshine Cake Studio’ was opened in 2020.
